He said that those who have had a coronavirus infection need to be vaccinated as early as 6 months after the illness. “If the primary vaccination was carried out, then the revaccination should be carried out after 6 or 12 months, but the exact terms have not been determined. We see a gradual decrease in the level of antibodies after vaccination and after illness, too, starting at 6 months,” he said.
Totolyan noted that there is also a category of persons who retain antibodies for a long time after an illness. “It can be a year or 1.5 years. There are no longer observations, because the first cases appeared 1.5 years ago. But it is already obvious that the share of such persons is not very large. By the way, among them there are medical workers who are next to the patients. It turns out that they, constantly communicating with the infected, receive natural re-immunization. Their level of antibodies is at a high level,” the academician said.
