Bishkek, July 23, 2020 /Kabar/. During a briefing at the Government House, Kyrgyzstan’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Nuran Niyazaliyev told about what assistance has been provided to Kyrgyzstan from neighboring states and international organizations.
According to him, the Government of Kazakhstan has provided food aid in the form of 5,000 tons of flour. The cargoes were delivered in stages to all regions of the country.
"The Uzbek Government sent five shipments, including personal protective equipment, food, medicines and equipment," Niyazaliyev said.
Humanitarian, technical and medical aid has also been received from such countries as Japan, the Republic of Korea, the USA, Canada, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Pakistan, Iran, India and many others.
“Great assistance has been provided by international organizations. As an example, in mid-July the WHO provided another aid for a total amount of USD 508 thousand 78. Through the IAEA, superfast diagnostic equipment and consumables worth EUR 63 thousand 795 were received. I would particularly like to note the assistance provided by the OSCE, which has implemented and continues to implement a number of important projects. Cars were going along the streets and warned citizens about the pandemic, and some information materials about the threat of the coronavirus were prepared – these projects have been implemented with OSCE assistance," the deputy FM added.
Much of the assistance came from UN agencies. In particular, UNDP, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, IAEA, UNODC, UNHCR, ILO, UN Women, WFP, FAO and others.
Also, Kyrgyzstan received assistance from development partners, honorary consuls, various companies and charity organizations. Among them are European Union, Aga Khan Development Network, JICA, KOICA, USAID, TIKA, GIZ, Rotary Club of Bishkek, as well as Qatar Charity, Isar, Risala, As-Safa Foundation, Assanabil, Fael Khair Program.
