Bishkek, Aug. 24, 2018. /Kabar/. A training seminar entitled “Application of National Ecological Indicators Package “Kerege” took place in Issyk-Kul. It was devoted to creating information systems, based on ecological indicators, with a view to apply them for making environmentally sound decisions, which are important for the country’s sustainable development and assistance in achieving SDGs, the press service of the Kyrgyz State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry reported.
The seminar was attended by members of the Interdepartmental Working Group for developing the Integrated Environmental Information Management and Monitoring System “Kerege”, who represent ministries and departments, established upon the order of Director of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) Abdykalyk Rustamov, as well as partners for development and others.
In his presentation akim of Issyk-Kul region Danir Imanaliev defined a number of priority ecological issues, both for Issyk-Kul oblast and the country as a whole, and noted the importance and relevance of such platforms for the opportunity to collectively discuss the ways of resolving these problems.
At the seminar information was presented on the process of developing an institutional framework for the ecological information system “Kerege”, the main purpose of which is to improve the process of ecological information management and monitoring with the aim to optimize the process of making ecologically significant decisions and reporting in regard with international Conventions, as well as raising awareness of the public.
The seminar was also attended by representatives of the Finnish Environment Institute, who shared their country’s advanced experience in working out and developing information systems, and presented information products, which were developed with their support in Kyrgyzstan.
The seminar was organized by the Business and Innovations Center.
