CSTO military exercises completed in Kazakhstan

Bishkek, Oct. 5, 2018. /Kabar/. The Poisk-2018 tactical and special exercise was completed on Friday in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was held as part of the CSTO Collective Rapid Response Force's annual operational-strategic exercise - Combat Brotherhood-2018.

The main purpose of the exercise was joint planning of the combat use of special units, consolidated reconnaissance and combat organs, their combat coordination and practical use in mountain conditions, day and night, with practical landing and combat shooting, targeting strike aircraft and adjusting artillery fire. A specific feature of the exercise was the deployment of existing command and control agencies of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the inclusion of operational groups and units from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.

The stages of the exercise were held at five test sites and two training centers with the involvement of more than 3,000 military personnel and more than 500 units of combat and special equipment, including front-line, army, military transport aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles and other equipment used by the intelligence units of the CSTO Armed Forces.

At the final stage, practical actions of reconnaissance units with live firing at night were demonstrated. A feature of this stage of the exercise is the participation of a multi-unit group of troops using reconnaissance-strike, reconnaissance-fire complexes.

The exercise leadership praised the organization and conduct of the exercise, the coherence of various command units, the skillful performance of reconnaissance-combat, fire and attack tasks, intelligence units and subdivisions of the CSTO member states. In the course of the exercise, servicemen gained experience in organizing command and control and all-round support in the performance of combat training tasks as part of the joint CSTO group of forces.

At the end of the Poisk-2018 exercise, the tasks and training objectives were fully accomplished.
