Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2021 . / Kabar / . During a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Dushanbe on Sept. 16, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov raised an issue of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, his press service reported.
He noted that the continuing tension on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border obliges the Kyrgyz side to focus the special attention of all member states of the Organization on this issue.
"The Kyrgyz Republic, as a peace-loving, open and democratic state, from the first days of independence has pursued and maintains a consistent, friendly, good neighborly and balanced policy towards neighboring countries and in general towards all countries of the world. Kyrgyzstan's position on the need to resolve disputes between countries exclusively through peaceful means and political and diplomatic means at the negotiating table remains unchanged to this day," said Sadyr Zhaparov.
Given the situation in the region, the Kyrgyz president voiced a number of proposals, including the development of mechanisms of rapid response and decision-making within the Organization in the event of armed aggression by one member state against another member state of the CSTO.
The Kyrgyz leader also drew the attention of CSTO heads of state to the fact that the Kyrgyz side intends to continue the strategic dialogue with its partners on all issues of mutual interest in order to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of its activities.
The Tajik capital city of Dushanbe is hosting a narrow format meeting of CSTO member states.
Thus, Presidents of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas are taking part in the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
