Bishkek, July 17, 2020 /Kabar/. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov held Friday an online meeting with Minister of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic Janat Beishenov.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz President, the current state and development prospects of the country's road sector were discussed.
Transport Minister Beishenov presented information on the implementation of projects on construction and reconstruction of internal roads, large highways of the country. He also informed about the progress of talks on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project.
He said that despite the reduction of the Ministry's budget by 70% in view of the current situation, the reconstruction of internal roads continues due to savings of previously allocated funds.
Beishenov reported on planned works on investment projects - reconstruction of the Bishkek-Kara-Balta highway and continuation of construction of Madaniyat-Dzhalal-Abad road, implementation of the South-North project.
President Jeenbekov noted the importance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, reminding that all parties have made political decisions on it.
"Our country is landlocked, and in the context of the pandemic, we were left locked up." Borders were closed, not only economic but also food security was threatened. The issue of providing the population with basic necessities has become a threat. Therefore, it is very important to increase the country's transit potential. The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is essential,” the President said.
According to Janat Beishenov, consultative meetings are held at the level of ministers and experts of stakeholders in the implementation of this mega-project.
In addition, the Kyrgyz leader drew attention to the digitalization of the weight control system.
Speaking about the improvement of internal roads in the regions Jeenbekov noted the need to start reconstruction and construction of roads in remote mountainous areas as soon as possible before the cold weather set. The construction activities should be carried out evenly in all areas.
The transport minister said this year the construction and repair of 153 km of internal roads in 23 towns and 40 regions of the country are planned. For these purposes, KGS 500 million are envisaged, of which KGS 100 million have already been allocated.
