Bishkek, July 17, 2021 . / Kabar / . First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nuran Niyazaliyev met with newly appointed Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Terhi Hakala in Tashkent.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that during the meeting the sides discussed the current state of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EU and prospects for its further development in the framework of the implementation of the new initialled agreement on enlarged partnership and cooperation between the republic and the EU.
The European Union expressed its strong readiness to continue to provide comprehensive assistance and support to the Kyrgyz Republic in the implementation of the reforms carried out in the country, including in the framework of the Regional and Multiannual Indicative Programmes 2021-2027.
The Kyrgyz side requested assistance in combating the epidemic of coronavirus infection and accelerating the allocation of vaccines under the COVAX mechanism.
Nuran Niyazaliyev and Terhi Hakala separately discussed the situation in Afghanistan, forecasts of its possible development and joint steps toward establishing sustainable peace and stability in this country.
A special attention was paid to the preparation and holding of the First Economic Forum of the European Union - Central Asia, which will be held in Bishkek in 2021.
