Kyrgyzstan's Karyyaev named Asian Combat Sambo Champion

Tashkent, June 8, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstani Daiyrbek Karyyaev won the gold medal at the Asian Combat Sambo Championship, which is taking place in Tashkent, Kabar News Agency has learnt from Uzbekistan's National Olympic Committee.

The Kyrgyzstani competed June 6 in the weight category under 79 kg. He started in the quarter-final, where he defeated another Kyrgyz athlete Bektur Idirisov, and in the semi-final he was stronger than Sherzodbek Ismonov, Uzbekistan.

In the final bout, Karyyaev faced Tajik sambo wrestler Tavrezsho Parpishoev, and won and became the Asian champion.

In addition, members of the Kyrgyz team Temirlan Toktorbayev and Nurisbek Bekberdiyev reached the finals and became vice-champions of Asia. Bekbolsun Kerimbekov won the bronze medal.

Asian Combat Sambo Championship has begun in Tashkent on June 6 this year. The competitions are held among juniors, youth and adults. It is attended by about 400 athletes from 16 countries, including Kyrgyzstan.
