Death toll from COVID-19 reaches 1,400 in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Jan. 24, 2021. /Kabar/. Coronavirus deaths in Kyrgyzstan stands now at 1,400, the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19 said in an update on Sunday.

Two new fatalities were reported over the past day – both in the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek, while infections shot up by 104 to reach 83,900, according to the latest data.

While the number of recoveries has climbed to 79,927, active cases throughout the country stand at 1,643 – 676 of them are receiving treatment in hospitals and 967 are being treated at home.

Kyrgyzstan recorded the highest daily case spike of 1,654 on July 17, 2020.

The first three imported COVID-19 cases were registered in Kyrgyzstan on March 18 and first three patients were discharged with recovery on March 30.

The first death was recorded on Apr. 2.
