Death toll of fires in Kyrgyzstan makes 34 since beginning of 2019-Emergency Ministry

Bishkek, Oct.24, 2019. /Kabar/. 2 thousand 990 fires occurred in Kyrgyzstan in the first 9 months of 2019, Head of the Fire Fighting and Prevention Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Ravshan Ashirbekov said.

Number of fires decreased by 21.2% compared to the previous year (3795 in 2018).

According to his data, 47 lives were saved (63 lives in 2018) and goods and materials worth over KGS 375 million (more than KGS 8.154 million in 2018). The fires killed 34 people (45 people in 2018) and affected 46 people (43 people in 2018).

The main causes of fires are careless handling of fire - 28.5%; violation of the rules of operation of electrical equipment - 43.3%; violation of the rules of operation of heating furnaces and chimneys - 9.8% and children's prank with fire -6.0%.

The main share of fires occurred: 923 fires were registered in Chui Oblast, where 11 people died; 660 fires registered in Bishkek, 8 people died; 350 fires in Dzhalal-Abad Oblast killed 5 people; 280 fires in Osh Oblast claimed the lives of 2 people; 2 people died in fires in Issyk-Kul Oblast.

Since the beginning of the year, 72500 firefighting drills, lectures and discussions, covering 849 thousand 901 people, have been held with employees of state facilities, business entities and places of mass gathering of people (in rural and district administrations).

A total of 1,736 reports on the fire safety of economic facilities have been sent to the authorities and the departments concerned.
