Bishkek, Nov. 30, 2020 / Kabar/. A decade of providing free legal aid to population has started in Kyrgyzstan, Director of the Center for Coordination of State-Guaranteed Legal Aid under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic told reporters at Kabar News Agency.
The campaign was organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic and conducted by the Center for the Coordination of State-Guaranteed Legal Aid.
The main goal of the decade is to increase the level of legal protection of vulnerable groups of the population, to provide legal assistance to the population, legal education, to ensure access to justice, to assist in the realization of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens. This decade is also timed to coincide with Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on Dec. 10. On this day in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
As part of the decade, free legal advice and assistance throughout the country will be provided by employees of the judiciary, centers for providing free legal advice and assistance to the population at territorial departments of justice, public notaries, coordinators for the provision of state-guaranteed legal assistance, employees of other state bodies, a number of non-profit organizations , whose activities are related to the provision of legal assistance and legal clinics of universities.
All 28 territorial divisions of the Ministry of Justice across the country will be involved.
The Decade is supported by the project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and UNDP “Towards Sustainable Access to Justice for Legal Empowerment in the Kyrgyz Republic”, the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan and the European Union Program “Rule of Law in the Kyrgyz Republic - Phase 2” implemented by the German Society for International cooperation with GIZ.
