Delegations from border regions of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan meet in Namangan

Tashkent, March 30, 2021 . / Kabar / . The city of Namangan hosted o a meeting of delegations of Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad Oblast and Namangan Region of Uzbekistan, head of the Namangan Oblast’s press service Bakhtiyar Akhunbabaev told Kabar News Agency.

The delegation of Kyrgyzstan was headed by Jalal-Abad Oblast Governor Absattar Syrgabayev, while the Uzbek delegation was led by Head of Namangan Region Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov.

Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov warmly welcomed the guests, expressing satisfaction with the visit of the neighboring Jalal-Abad Oblast.

"Welcome to the city of flowers - Namangan. There is no doubt that further strengthening of the centuries-old friendship between the two brotherly peoples is a joyous occasion for both sides," the head of the region said.

Today, 7 districts of Namangan Region border with Jalal-Abad Oblast of Kyrgyzstan. There are more than 23 thousand ethnic Kyrgyz living in the oblast.

The regional Kyrgyz National Cultural Center, two Kyrgyz schools and nine Uzbek-Kyrgyz joint ventures are functioning.

In 2020, trade turnover between Namangan Region and economic entities of Kyrgyzstan made USD 102.6 million, including USD 93 million of export to Kyrgyzstan and USD 8.6 million of import to Uzbekistan.

The recent visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan opened a new era in the history of relations between the two states. The adoption of the decision by leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan serves the common good and the two brotherly peoples.
