Bishkek, Oct. 21, 2019 / Kabar /. Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation together (SBFIC) with the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted a survey among the population on the topic of savings.

Anya Hoyer, the regional coordinator of SBFIC told reporters at Kabar News Agencythat the survey of more than 2100 households was conducted at the beginning of the year to find out what kind of savings people have and how they relate to the banking system.

“We found out that people are ready to make savings. Nearly half of the surveyed households told that they save money. They consider the safest way is deposits in banks and the purchase of livestock. However, most keep their money at home,” said Hoyer.

In addition, she noted that more than 70% of households have long-term goals.

“But 30% of those who said that they have no goals, they are ready to save money for future results and plans, such as a wedding, buying a house or education. 70% regularly calculate their expenses and incomes, thereby having good opportunities to plan their savings. The surveyed households have a high level of trust in banks. 2/3 of households told that they more trust banks compared than 10 years ago or that they trust and always trusted,” added Anya Hoyer.

The survey results showed that when choosing the appropriate form of savings, reliability and security play a greater role than income for 80% of households.
