Bishkek, Jan.14, 2020. /Kabar/. The Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security heard information about the situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, MP Abdyvakhap Nurbayev said after the closed session of the Committee.
“We decided to hear the information once again and then bring it to the plenary session," he said.
The session’s participants were provided information on measures taken and on causes of the border incident.
"The State Border Service, the Foreign Ministry, the Internal Ministry, as well as representative of the Government for Land Resources provided information.
We were not provided with information about exchange of land plots. Deputy Prime Minister Jenish Razakov himself will tell us about it," he added.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Jenish Razakov who is currently in Tajikistan’s Isfara city, is negotiating with the Tajik side on situation along state border.
The Kyrgyz delegation, led by Razakov, includes heads of the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Committee for National Security, the State Border Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as representatives of relevant state bodies.
The meeting participants are discussing the situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, further measures for its stabilization, issues of strengthening border security, measures to prevent border incidents, as well as issues of intensifying work on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
The meeting is being held in accordance with the agreement, reached after a telephone conversation between Presidents of the two countries.
On Jan. 10, 2020 at 1 a.m., unknown citizens of Tajikistan threw stones at the cars of two Kyrgyz citizens on the Osh-Batken-Isfana highway.
At 2:40 a.m. shots were fired at the section of the Kok-Tash border post in the Dakhma area from the Tajik human settlements, which forced the Kyrgyz side to begin evacuating women and children.
The shots were stopped at 8 a.m.
On Jan.11 Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held phone conversation to discuss the situation at the border.
Prime ministers of the two countries, as well their deputies also discussed issues related to joint measures to stabilize the situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz State Border Service, current situation at the border is estimated as stable.
