Bishkek, Jan. 17, 2024 /Kabar/. On January 16, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Sanzharbek Bolotov met with Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kyrgyz Republic Lee Wonjae.
According to the press service of the ministry, the sides discussed issues of cooperation through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the successful implementation of projects in the field of public administration, agriculture, digitalization, healthcare, and issues of cooperation in terms of increasing the efficiency of attracting external assistance.
The deputy minister noted that the Republic of Korea is one of the key partners of Kyrgyzstan, with which friendly, trusting relations have been built and close cooperation has been established in a wide range of areas.
He also expressed gratitude to the Korean side for including Kyrgyzstan in the list of priority countries for receiving official development assistance (ODA) from Korea and the adopted Assistance Strategy for the Kyrgyz Republic. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in terms of increasing the effectiveness of attracted external assistance.
Lee Wonjae, in turn, noted the active development of economic interaction between the two countries and the importance of holding the next meeting of the intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Korean Commission on Economic Cooperation in 2024.
The ambassador informed about plans to increase the number of flights, which will also increase trade volumes, tourist flows and business contacts between the two countries.
The sides noted the positive growth rate of mutual trade, and also discussed the need to develop measures to reduce the existing significant imbalance in trade between the two countries.
