Deputy FM of Kyrgyzstan holds talks with Ambassador of Palestine

Bishkek, May 20, 2024. /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Avazbek Atakhanov held negotiations with Palestinian Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Javad Mohammad Awad, at the initiative of the Palestinian side.

According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed the unchanged position of the Kyrgyz Republic on the creation of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the UN resolution and its recognition as a member of the UN.

He also expressed his deep concern at the ongoing escalation of the situation in the Gaza Strip, where the humanitarian crisis is intensifying and innocent people, including children and women, are dying.

Regarding issues of bilateral cooperation, Avazbek Atakhanov proposed to consistently implement the agreements reached following the official visit of Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh Al Maliki to Kyrgyzstan on August 27-29, 2023, including the signed cooperation program between the Foreign Ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Palestine.

In turn, Jawad Mohammad Awad expressed great gratitude for the support provided by the UN on the Palestinian issue and its principled position on the creation of a Palestinian state. He also highly appreciated the state, dynamics and prospects of Kyrgyz-Palestinian relations.

At the same time, the ambassador informed that during his stay in Bishkek he also intends to hold meetings with representatives of a number of government bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to hold inter-Ministry of Foreign Affairs political consultations before the end of the year.
