Bishkek, Aug. 24, 2023. /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Aibek Moldogaziev met today with the delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), headed by its chairman, David McAllister, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The European delegation also included Deputy Chairman of the AFET Committee Zheliana Zovko, MPs Klemen Groschel, Manolis Kefaloyannis, Karsten Luke, Gheorghe-Vlad Nistor, Juozas Olekas, as well as members of the AFET Secretariat and political advisers of a number of party groups of the European Parliament.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the main issues on the bilateral agenda, including bilateral mechanisms and the normative framework for interaction.
The deputy minister noted the importance and separate role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the development of bilateral relations. In this context, the parties welcomed the high level of the existing dialogue and plans to hold the next meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
The AFET President reaffirmed the commitment of the European Parliament to further develop partnerships with the Kyrgyz Republic, which “is a flagship for democratic reforms and the promotion of human rights”.
The parties also touched upon regional issues in the field of security, trade, transport and ecology.
