Bishkek, Nov. 25, 2020 / Kabar /. First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nuran Niyazaliev met with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Choi Jong-kun in Seoul, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Niyazaliev informed the South Korean side about the current internal political situation in the country, stressing the commitment of Kyrgyzstan to fulfill all previously assumed international obligations, including agreements and treaties signed with the Republic of Korea.
During the talks, the two deputy ministers discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral and multilateral cooperation of mutual interest, including the opening of direct flights, the implementation of projects in the fields of agriculture, education, healthcare and attracting targeted investments from South Korea. Niyazaliev emphasized that the priority for the near and medium term is to bring investment and trade and economic cooperation to a higher quality level. He also expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Korea for humanitarian assistance in the fight against COVID-19.
The sides agreed that the first official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-yon to the Kyrgyz Republic, which took place on July 17-19, 2019, gave an important impetus to bilateral cooperation and noted the need for further implementation of the agreements reached during the visit.
In order to continue the political dialogue between the two countries, an agreement was reached on the implementation of mutual visits at the highest and high levels. In particular, the Korean side expressed its readiness to organize visits of the prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Korea in 2021.
