Deputy Interior Minister and UNDP special adviser discuss cooperation in fighting terrorism and extremism

Bishkek, Nov. 29, 2018. / Kabar /. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Mirlan Kanimetov met with UNDP Global Program Manager and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Violent Extremism Alexander Avanesov.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that during the meeting, the issues of cooperation in the fight against terrorism and the prevention of violent extremism were discussed, in particular the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.

Thus, Kanimetov noted the need for an effective fight against terrorism through the strengthening of international cooperation and the exchange of best practices, in particular the exchange of best practices in combating terrorism among UN member states.

Employees of the Counter-Extremism and Illegal Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic discussed problematic issues on the progress of work being carried out to implement the Program of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on countering extremism and terrorism for 2017-2022, as well as measures taken to counter extremism and prevent terrorism and prevent inter-ethnic conflicts in the territory of the republic.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic thanked for the visit of the UN representatives, and also expressed confidence in further close cooperation.
