Bishkek, Oct. 22, 2020. /Kabar/. The banking sector plays a huge role in the recovery of economic activity in the country, Kyrgyzstan's First Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov said at a meeting with representatives of the banking sector, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government said Thursday.

"Today the situation in the country has stabilized. The state bodies are fully functioning. Now we need to discuss the prospects for the implementation of state support programs for the financial sector, preferential lending to business, as well as ensuring the necessary level of liquidity in the banking sector and the stability of financial institutions," said Artem Novikov.

He noted the need to unite efforts for further functioning and development of the banking sector and financial market in general.

"The analysis showed that the current situation has not undermined people's trust in the banking system and there is no large outflow of deposit base in commercial banks. The Government is ready to support the banking sector. Together with the National Bank, the issue of resuming preferential lending programs for entrepreneurs from November 2020 is being addressed. For our part, we would like to ask heads of commercial banks to intensify the work on crediting entrepreneurs and introduction of digital technologies in order to improve the quality of customer service," the first deputy PM emphasized.
