Deputy PM Novikov shares his plans to bring country out of current economic collapse

Bishkek, Oct. 30, 2020. /Kabar/. At a press conference in the capital city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov shared his plans for pulling the country out of the current economic collapse.

According to him, first of all, it is necessary to restore trust between the population, business and authorities. There is need to restore the trust of international partners, investors to work in the market of Kyrgyzstan and ensure stability and predictability of the authorities in the future.

At the Council for Business Development And Investments, which was held last week under the chairmanship of Acting President Sadyr Zhaparov and the business communities of the country, a number of issues were discussed and the Action Plan adopted.

"One of the main issues to be solved now is to create equal and clear rules of the game for entrepreneurs working in our market. In previous years, as you all know, there was an imbalance, some had more privileged powers, some had less, and now our task is to ensure equal and competitive work of the financial sector in our country. In order to address these issues, the Government provides a number of measures to simplify the procedure of introducing business to change the approaches and concept of the tax service, to change the rules and strengthen when working with customs authorities," Novikov said.

The first deputy PM also added that in the nearest future a reform commission will be established in the country, which will deal with cardinal reforms in the economic block of the country.

“The Government approved a plan of short-term measures to stabilize the socio-economic situation in the country, which covers 2.5 - 3 months. The main focus is to provide a guarantee for the protection and stability of business activity," Novikov concluded.

A meeting of the Council for Business Development and Investments, chaired by Acting President, Prime Minister Sadyr Zhaparov was held on Oct. 23 in Bishkek.

The meeting participants discussed measures to stabilize the economy, protect the rights and property of entrepreneurs, proposals of business communities to stabilize and support sectors of the economy, and the issue of ensuring the security of guarantees to protect businesses and large enterprises.

A number of problems were voiced that arose in connection with the current situation in the country. Such as the increased incidence of attacks by various groups of the population on business objects, regardless of ownership, as well as cases of seizure of agricultural land (mining, information and communication facilities, agricultural producers, fuel and energy complex, public catering facility, trade, etc.) .
