Bishkek, Dec.18, 2019. /Kabar/. Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jenish Razakov met with United Nations Permanent Resident Coordinator to the Kyrgyz Republic Ozonnia Ojiello, the Government’s press service said.
Razakov noted Kyrgyzstan is developing fruitful cooperation with UN structures.
“The Government highly appreciates the activities of UN agencies in Kyrgyzstan in the area of community development. I express my gratitude for the assistance provided, for the contribution of the UN system to the implementation of a number of projects and the action plan of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic Program on Countering Extremism and Terrorism.
In particular, a unified system of risk assessment and classification of prisoners was developed and tested in 5 pilot correctional institutions of the penal correction system, support was provided for the establishment of the Monitoring and Analysis Center of the State Service for Punishments Execution (SSPE), support was provided to strengthen regional cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of prevention of radicalization in correctional facilities, expert support was provided to improve legislation and policy to prevent the spread of extremist ideas among prisoners,” Razakov said.
In turn, UN Resident Coordinator to the Kyrgyz Republic Ozonnia Ojiello expressed his appreciation for the cooperation, and noted that the organization highly appreciates the partnership with the republic.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further cooperation in sphere of prevention of terrorism and extremism, repatriation of children of citizens of republic from combat operational zones.
The deputy PM and the UN resident coordinator discussed topical issues of further interaction and cooperation, and decided to hold in early 2020 a meeting with the participation of state bodies, , international and non-governmental organizations on the above issues.
