Swedish deputy speaker briefed about Kyrgyzstan’s investment potential

Bishkek, Jan.29, 2020. /Kabar/. Meeting of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov and First Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag of Sweden Åsa Lindestam took place on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the sides discussed investment in Kyrgyzstan and issues of inter-parliamentary interaction and cooperation in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The Kyrgyz speaker noted the visit of the Swedish delegation will promote further development of bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Sweden.

"Kyrgyzstan has chosen the way of parliamentary democracy development. We are interested in cooperation with all European countries, including Sweden," he stressed.

Also during the meeting, Dastanbek Dzhumabekov outlined Kyrgyzstan's achievements in developing parliamentary democracy.

Concerning economic cooperation, Speaker Dzhumabekov said Kyrgyzstan has created favourable conditions for investors and the Government is providing comprehensive support.

First Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden Åsa Lindestam thanked Dastanbek Dzhumabekov for the warm reception, and expressed confidence that the visit of the Swedish parliamentary delegation to Kyrgyzstan would be fruitful.

"For the Kingdom of Sweden Kyrgyzstan is an important country in Central Asia. We are united by common goals on the way of developing parliamentary democracy. Sweden has 100 years of experience in this direction, we are interested in expanding bilateral cooperation," the Swedish deputy speaker said.

In addition, Åsa Lindestam noted that inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries should be intensified and told about the activities of Sweden’s Riksdag.

Note that as part of the visit of Swedish parliamentary delegation to Kyrgyzstan, headed by Åsa Lindestam, a number of high-level meetings were held, including with Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
