There is an island in the east sea of the Korean Peninsula. Ulleungdo. With an area of 72.9 square meters, a coastline of 64.43 km, and a population of 10,000, Ulleungdo is a lonely floating island that protects Korea's East Sea.
Koreans believe this Ulleungdo as the top model for a clean environment. 100 days after the first outbreak of COVID-19 in South Korea on 28th, no one got infected by it on Ulleungdo until now.
In Korea, as of the 28th, there are 10,752 accumulated corona 19 infections and 244 deaths. The average death rate is only 2.27%, which is lower than any other country.
Like this, there is no single case on Ulleungdo, thanks to the county employees including Governor Kim Byung-soo and residents’ thorough preventive measures and minimization of the number of people entering and leaving the island.
Since the island belongs to Gyeongsang Province, which has the highest number of corona 19 cases and deaths in South Korea, the "no-patient no-death" on Ulleungdo is even more admirable.
The number of confirmed persons who were completely cured and lifted out of quarantine in Korea was increased by 90 persons on April 27 to a total of 8854 persons, and the cure rate is 82.4%. In addition, the number of patients currently receiving isolation treatment has decreased by 77 from the previous day which is total of 1654 now.
Furthermore, 608,514 people have been tested by Corona 19 diagnosis check so far, of which 588,559 people have been confirmed by "negative" and 9,203 people are now undergoing.
As you see, South Korea is expected to increase social activities such as traveling and the start of each school in May as COVID-19 is coming under control. Ulleungdo, which is one of the representative tourist attractions in Korea, is expected to be visited by foreign tourists as well as domestic tourists.
Of course, traveling Ulleungdo and Dokdo, the easternmost island of South Korea, must literally have to be well prepared to visit. This island is surrounded by sea, where you can drink the fresh air of the sea wherever you go. It is 217km away from Pohang, Gyeongsang Province, which is famous for its steel mill, 161km away from the beautiful seaport city of the East Sea, Mukho, and 178km away from Gangneung, where held the 2018 Winter Olympic together with Pyeongchang.
Centering on Sungin-bong, a ridge line extending in all directions to the Kadu-bong in the south and Duru-bong in the northeast. There is Nari-basin in the northwestern part of the island, which has been the subject of much research in geography.
This island was attributed to the Silla dynasty by General Isabu in 512 AD. At that time, Ulleungdo was called as Usando (Usanguk), and was ruled by King Wuhei.
More than 400,000 tourists are visiting this island annually.
Ulleungdo, with a lot of attractions, is not providing air service yet, but Governor Kim Byung-soo plans to operate it by the constructing an airport.
I have high desire to leave to Ulleungdo, where there is no corona and breathing the natural beauty of the Korean peninsula.
