Detention of activists and ex-officials carried out legally - Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs

Bishkek, Oct. 25, 2022. /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev briefly provided information on the mass detention of activists and former officials at a meeting of the Parliament’s Committee on Law and Order and Combating Crime.

According to him, a total of 21 people were detained within the framework of the initiated criminal case under Article 278 (Mass riots), part 1.

“20 of them were placed in SIZO-1 in Bishkek by the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court dated October 24, 2022, another one was placed under house arrest for health reasons. To date, the investigation has just begun, in connection with this, the details of the criminal case are not disclosed. You will be given full information later,” he said.

In addition, the deputy head added that all arrests and searches of activists and former officials were carried out within the legal framework. “An appropriate check has already been carried out by employees of the prosecutor's office and the investigative service,” Ashirkhodzhaev noted.
