The Kyrgyz Government attaches particular importance to the development of the country's export potential and takes tangible steps in this direction. In February of this year, speaking in the Parliament, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov said that in order to create the necessary conditions for the export of domestic products, 19 veterinary and 4 phytosanitary laboratories were commissioned. And over the past two years, the number of Kyrgyz enterprises, included in the Unified Register of EurAsEC for the production, storage and export of goods related to veterinary control, has reached 114 enterprises. Compared to 2018, their number increased by 47 enterprises.
A good example of the fact that work the development of the country's export potential is underway is the construction of a modern logistics center with an area of 8,000 m2 in Bishkek
The KyrSEFF program is directly related to the construction of this center, which creates the conditions for increasing trade between Kyrgyzstan and the countries of the near and far abroad.
“In 2019, the veterinary control system of the Kyrgyz Republic was recognized as equivalent by other EurAsEC countries. Since 2007, there has been a ban on the import of meat from our country into Russia, which has now been lifted. Now our producers can freely export their livestock products to Russia and the EurAsEC countries,” said President Sooronbay Jeenbekov addressing the Parliament this February.
He said that a special export development program was adopted.
“Last year, agricultural exports grew by 24.5%. As a result of the support of local entrepreneurs, the geography of exports is steadily expanding. For example, our businessmen began to export their products to China, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Japan and other countries,” the president said and noted that within the framework of the cooperation, it was possible to export meat products, honey and skimmed milk to China. 13 dairy and 4 Kyrgyz honey producing enterprises are listed in the Unified Register of China.
Due to the increased demand for reliable and safe warehouses in Bishkek, the management of the logistics center decided to expand the old Soviet warehouses, which previously belonged to the confectionery factory and had been idle for a long time. This building needed a complete renovation in order to meet high international standards for the storage of goods and the use of energy resources.
The SmartLogistics company, to which this logistics center belongs, has been operating in the Kyrgyz logistics market for over 11 years. Today, the company owns more than 10,000 m2 of warehouse space, which are leased to other companies to store various goods.
As you know, due to the economic features, the question of creating a logistics center in the capital was quite acute. But, another feature of the new, modern logistics center in Bishkek is that it is built according to modern energy conservation standards, which makes it economically advantageous in comparison with other buildings.
In 2018, the company asked KyrSEFF for credit and advisory services. The team of engineers and financiers analyzed the investments, first of all, the potential for energy conservation, technical and financial parameters, as well as environmental aspects. The project plan for the modernization of the building with improving the quality of services and lowering energy consumption was presented and adopted by the partner bank KICB.
KyrSEFF consultants estimated that as a result of investments in the amount of USD 467 thousand in the renovation project of the old building with a focus on energy efficiency, SmartLogistic will save 452.5 MWh of energy annually and reduce harmful CO2 emissions by 20.58 tons, and the total savings in cash equivalent will be USD 9,731 annually.
Today, the 8,000 m² warehouse is fully computerized and more than 50 people serve it. The warehouse also meets international standards for the storage of many products, including those exported to the EAEU.
The room has 5 tiers for storing goods of various sizes, and there is also a mezzanine room in which it is convenient to store pharmaceutical products and small items of valuables. At the same time, goods of 15 freight cars can be stored in a warehouse, and 8 cars can be unloaded at a warehouse.
“Improving energy efficiency enhances the company's competitiveness. Thanks to investments, we can provide 3PL services, a range of logistics services: delivery, address storage and warehouse processing, supply chain management,” said SmartLogistiс CEO Aliakper Gabibov.
For the successful implementation of resource saving measures, the logistics center borrowers additionally awarded a grant from the European Union in the amount of 15% of the loan.
