Bishkek, Nov.19, 2019. /Kabar/. Regional development will remain our main medium-term goal, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov said at the High-Level International Donor Conference.
He noted the work on regional development is part of the medium-term program until 2023.
“Financial institutions and foundations will be strengthened to support regional projects to create permanent jobs,” the President said. - First of all, we will increase the potential of the local budget with the focus on reducing subsidized areas. Creation of industrial parks and industrial clusters in twenty towns, growth points will be an important direction. Through the specialization of each region we will strengthen its competitiveness in the domestic and foreign markets.”
Jeenbekov noted Kyrgyzstan fully uses domestic reserves for regional development, reconstruction of infrastructure, support of regional entrepreneurs, construction of social facilities, repair of roads.
“Now 80 percent of the Kyrgyz-Russian Development Fund, Aiyl Bank and RSK Bank are going to rural areas. The Guarantee Fund also gives priority to regional projects. In addition, local civil society has also become more active, local entrepreneurs, youth communities, and our compatriots abroad provide all possible assistance to their homeland, helping to solve urgent problems,” he added.
"We plan to launch the Small and Medium-Sized Business Development and Project Preparation funds and create clusters. We attach special importance to the cluster directions of agricultural products processing, sewing and textile production and tourism development.
Production of ecologically clean agricultural products remains a priority. Special credit facilities will be used to support export-oriented processing facilities. Construction of textile and sewing industrial parks, technopoles and creation of large enterprises on their basis remains a priority,” he said.
The Kyrgyz leader added in order to develop the tourism cluster, the Open Skies policy was announced this year.
“There is need to speed up work on reconstruction of tourist infrastructure and repair of airports in the regions,” he said.
