Bishkek, Mar. 21, 2019. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and Bishkek Mayor’s Office held a diplomatic charity fair on the occasion of Nooruz holiday.
At the opening of the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov, as well as Mayor of Bishkek Surakmatov, Russian Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Udovichenko, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Kyrgyz Republic Orujov and Acting Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Kyrgyzstan Shidakova delivered a congratulatory speech, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
In his speech, the Minister noted that the diplomatic charity fair is becoming a good tradition of celebrating Nooruz, allows guests and residents of the capital to become better acquainted with the culture and traditions of other countries and peoples, to enrich themselves spiritually, and also creates an atmosphere of warmth and kindness among visitors and participants. All the money raised at the event will be transferred to one of the social regional institutions of the republic.
More than 20 foreign embassies, honorary consulates took part in the fair demonstrating national dishes, various souvenirs, handicrafts, designer items, as well as a festive concert with performances by national art groups and diplomatic missions.
Nooruz or Nowruz is celebrated on the spring equinox, usually on March 21, and marks the beginning of a new year according to the astronomical solar calendar of the Iranian and Turkic peoples.
