Director of State Commission on Religious Affairs and Head of UNDP in Kyrgyzstan discuss religious literacy in the country

Bishkek, Nov. 29, 2018. /Kabar/. Director of the State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zayirbek Ergeshov met with UN delegates led by UNDP Global Program Manager and Special Adviser on Preventing Forced Extremism Alexander Avanesov.

At the meeting, issues of religious literacy of society, protection of human rights and freedoms, prohibition of discrimination, cooperation to prevent radicalism and extremism were discussed.

In addition, during the meeting, the Director of the State Commission spoke about the work to improve the interaction between the state and religious organizations, stressed the important role of the state policy in the religious sphere.

In turn, Avanesov proposed to work together to organize an event in the religious sphere and expressed gratitude for the fruitful discussion of cooperation issues.

As a result, the sides thanked each other for the meeting, and expressed hope and readiness to strengthen the bilateral cooperation.
