Dollar rate increased 23.82% against som since beginning of year

Since the beginning of year, an official exchange rate of US dollar against Kyrgyz som increased by 23.82%, from KGS to KGS 105 per dollar, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Nurbek Zhenish said during an extraordinary meeting of the Committee on Budget, Economy and Fiscal Policy of the Jogorku Kenesh.

He noted that the current situation on the currency market remains relatively stable.

"From January 2022 to March 15, in order to smooth the sharp fluctuations of the exchange rate, the National Bank has carried out five interventions on the sale of foreign currency amounting to $284.30 million, including $66.65 million - in cash. Thus, since the beginning of the year to March 16, the official exchange rate of the U.S. dollar against the som has risen by 23.82%, from KGS 84.8 to KGS 105 per dollar," Nurbek Zhenish said.
