Domestic wrestlers have chance to win licenses for Paris Olympics in Bishkek

Bishkek, April 8, 2024 / Kabar/. Domestic wrestlers have a good opportunity to win licenses for the Olympic Games in Paris (France) in Bishkek while participating in the Asian qualifying tournament, President of the Wrestling Federation of Kyrgyzstan Melis Turganbaev told at a press conference at Kabar.

He noted that a great wrestling festival awaits Kyrgyz people: three major sporting events will be organized in Bishkek from April 10 to 21.

- From April 10 to 16, the Asian Championships in Greco-Roman, freestyle and women’s wrestling among adults will be held at the city skating rink “Bishkek Arena”.

- From April 18 to 21, the Asian qualifying tournament in Greco-Roman, freestyle and women's wrestling will be held, at which tickets to the Olympics in Paris will be played out. At the moment, applications for participation have been received from 30 countries.

Melis Turganbaev expressed hope that his native walls will help Kyrgyz athletes achieve good results.

Also, as part of the championship, on April 18, the General Assembly of the Asian Wrestling Council - UWW-Asia will be held with the participation of federation presidents from 38 Asian countries.

President of the United World of Wrestling Nenad Lalovic, the President of the Asian Council for Wrestling - UWW-Asia Daulet Turlykhanov and members of the executive committee of UWW and UWW-Asia are expected to arrive in Kyrgyzstan.
