Bishkek, Oct. 12, 2018. /Kabar/. A donor conference devoted to the problems of uranium tailings in Kyrgyzstan will be held in London on November 8, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
In Berlin, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Germany Erines Otorbayev met with State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany Jochen Flasbarth.
Otorbaev told the interlocutor about the upcoming conference and invited high representatives of the Federal Ministry of Germany to take part in this event.
The main purpose of the meeting between Otorbayev and Jochen Flasbarth was to discuss the expansion of the Kyrgyz-German cooperation in the environmental field. In particular, the Ambassador suggested to the German side to consider the possibility of Germany’s participation in the implementation of an irrigation project in the south of the country in the context of promoting sustainable development of the regions of Kyrgyzstan, as well as strengthening cooperation between environmental agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic and Germany.
For his part, Flasbarth told about the priority of Germany in environmental issues, the work carried out by their department in the framework of global initiatives, including within the UN, as well as projects implemented by Germany in the field of nature conservation in Central Asia.
