Bishkek, Feb. 19, 2021 / Kabar /. First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Artem Novikov held an online meeting with representatives of all UN agencies in the Kyrgyz Republic, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported on Friday.
During the virtual meeting, Novikov expressed gratitude to the UN for the humanitarian and technical assistance provided during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
"Separately, I would like to express my gratitude for the activities to implement the Disaster Response Coordination Unit plan. I hope this meeting will make a big step in the development of bilateral relations and give an additional impetus to the economic development of our country," said Artem Novikov.
The first deputy prime minister noted the relevance of responding to the socio-economic consequences of the crisis.
The meeting participants discussed the main approaches proposed by the UN within the framework program.
Artem Novikov drew attention to the need to move to more practical measures in terms of installing the necessary equipment for medical institutions, the formation of a system of preliminary screening and medical monitoring of children's health, creation of laboratories to determine the genomes of new strains of viral infections, social support for citizens and increasing economic activity of the business sector.
UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic Ozonnia Ojiello noted the effective and coordinated work with the Government of the republic, and assured that the UN acts as a partner in this issue and is ready to assist in finalizing the framework document as quickly as possible.
He also noted that in 2021-2022, a significant amount of money will be allocated by the UN system and donors for the implementation of the program.
As a result of the meeting, the sides agreed to finalize the sections of the Framework on the five key areas by March 10 for submission to the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic for approval.
