Bishkek, Feb. 7, 2019. /Kabar/. Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Altynai Omurbekova held a meeting on preparation of a draft comprehensive program for the development of team sports in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The press service of the Government Office reported that Omurbekova recalled that President Sooronbay Jeenbekov proposed that the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic together with the national Football Federation develop a football development program.
“We need to develop a draft of this Program, which will include the development of sports such as football, volleyball, basketball and other team sports. In addition, this program should determine the priorities, mission and main goals for the development of team sports, as well as ways to achieve them effectively. The draft Program should take into account the main priorities when choosing the strategic directions for the development of team sports for the next few years. It is necessary to cover all regions of the country so that our children have the opportunity to practice their favorite sport, including professionally,” the Vice Prime Minister believes.
Omurbekova noted the positive development of the Kyrgyz football, as evidenced by the success of our national football team, which has participated in the Asian Cup for the first time and proved that it can play with the strongest teams in Asia.
During the meeting, it was noted that there are currently 3 leagues in the republic: Major League – 8 teams, League I – 18 teams and League II – 27 teams. In addition, there is the Futsal Super League – 11 teams and Futsal League I – 8 teams.
The Vice Prime Minister stressed the importance of the fact that children from all regions of the country were passionate about sports, they had motivation to play sports, achieving victories.
“Mayor’s Offices of cities together with the relevant state bodies need to work on the issue of brining football fields, sports grounds, halls in the territory of schools into compliance. And local governments need to provide funds from the budget for the maintenance of public sports grounds. Sound mind in a sound body, and a healthy nation is a prosperous country. This is what we should strive for,” Omurbekova said.
At the end of the meeting, the Vice Prime Minister instructed the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Football Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic to draft a comprehensive Program for the development of team sports and submit it to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic soon.
