Drug prices rise in Kyrgyzstan due to closed borders

Bishkek, Apr. 24, 2020 / Kabar /. Drug prices are rising in pharmacies in the country, possibly because borders are closed, the country’s Deputy Health Minister Nurbolot Usenbaev told Friday.

He said that, the monitoring of drug prices is carried out by the Department of Drug Support of the Ministry of Health.

“There are employees in this Department, who constantly monitor prices in pharmacies. Prices are rising, possibly due to border closures and suppliers are unable to deliver drugs on time. But if they overstate prices, we will take measures,” Usenbaev said.

Earlier, chairman of the Pharmaceutical Union Ernis Asanov told that drugs prices went up in Kyrgyzstan by 20%.
