Bishkek, April 23, 2021. / Kabar /. The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) decided to provide a tariff concession in the form of duty-free import of sugar in the period from May 15 to Sept. 30, 2021. This decision was made at a regular meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, which was held with the participation of Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Ulukbek Karmyshakov via video conferencing, the press service of the Kyrgyz government of reported.
Thus, sugar imported to Kyrgyzstan in the amount of no more than 40 thousand tons is exempted from the import customs duty, to Armenia - in the amount of no more than 22.4 thousand tons, to Kazakhstan - in the amount of no more than 134.4 thousand tons, in Russia - in the amount of no more than 350 thousand tons.
This decision of the Council of the Commission will enter into force after 10 calendar days from the date of its official publication.
The EEC Board, together with the Union states, will monitor, on a monthly basis, the actual volume of sugar imports with the application of the tariff concession, as well as sales volumes in the domestic market of the EAEU states, and inform the EEC Council about this.
Taking into account the situation with prices on the sugar market, the sides agreed to return in July this year to consider the issue of possible additional stabilization measures, if they turn out to be necessary.
Currently, the import duty on white sugar from non-EAEU countries is USD 340 per tonne.
