EAEU prime ministers determine transport policy for next three years

Bishkek, Aug. 20, 2021. / Kabar /. The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on August 20 approved a roadmap for the implementation of transport policy for 2021-2023, the EEC press service said.

The measures included in the document develop the provisions of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union on transport and infrastructure, taking into account the peculiarities of the development of road, air, rail and water transport, ensure the implementation of tasks and priorities in this area for the integration association.

The roadmap includes more than 50 positions, sets priorities for the sectoral development of integration and aims at converging legislative regulation in the EAEU countries. So, work is to be done on the development of multimodal and container transport, the organization of the exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles of international transport.

Special attention is paid to the digitalization of the industry. The aspects of digital logistics and the development of intelligent transport systems, including the development of common approaches to the implementation of electronic transport documents, were touched upon.

The document provides for measures to gradually remove restrictions on air traffic by 2025 and ensure equal (non-discriminatory) conditions for the provision of services in the field of civil aviation in the member states.

Also, work will continue on the integrated development of Eurasian transport corridors, improving the mechanism for monitoring the movement of large and heavy vehicles, synchronizing procedures for obtaining permits for the carriage of dangerous goods by road and for the passage of heavy and (or) large vehicles, as well as improving the order the passage of ships on inland waterways.

The activities included in the roadmap for 2021–2023 are based on the results of the implementation of the roadmaps in the period 2018–2020 and are their logical continuation for the formation of a single transport space and a common market for transport services in the Union. Their implementation will contribute to the removal by 2025 of the existing restrictions on the implementation of transportation by all modes of transport.
