EBRD Vice President Mark Bowman to visit Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Feb. 26, 2024. /Kabar/. Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Policy and Partnerships Mark Bowman will visit Kyrgyzstan from February 27 to March 1, the EBRD press service reported.

During the visit he will hold a number of meetings with the country's leadership, the diplomatic community and the bank's clients.

During the three-day program, Mark Bowman will meet with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov, Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev, and Minister of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic Ayaz Baetov.

The EBRD vice president will also take part in a special event of the Kyrgyz Sustainable Energy Financing Program (KyrSEFF III) and present new platforms for electronic notary and electronic registration of legal entities, designed to support the country’s digitalization strategy and increase its business attractiveness.

In 2023, the EBRD invested EUR 102 million in 22 projects in Kyrgyzstan – the bank’s highest operating performance in the country over the past five years. 67% of projects were aimed at supporting the country's private sector, while more than 40% of investments were aimed at implementing green projects.

To date, the EBRD has invested EUR 960 million in Kyrgyzstan through 238 projects, most of the investments were aimed at supporting private entrepreneurship.
