According to preliminary data of the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan the volume of foreign trade turnover of the country in 2021 amounted to USD 7229.1 million and increased by 27.0% compared to 2020.

The export of Kyrgyzstan amounted to USD 1658.9 million and decreased by 15.9%, without gold, export amounted to USD 1350.9 million and increased by 37%, import amounted to USD 5570.1 million and increased by 49.8%. The trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic with the EAEU countries amounted to USD 3428.0 million and increased by 40.5%, incl. exports amounted to USD 803.2 million (an increase of 44.9%), imports - USD 2,624.8 million (an increase of 39.2%). The trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic with third countries amounted to USD 3801.0 million and increased by 16.9%, incl. import - USD 2945.3 million and increased 1.6 times, while exports decreased by 39.7% and amounted to USD 855.7 million, the Ministry of Economy reported.

The beginning of the year shows a positive trend - socio-economic indicators for the first month demonstrate positive growth rates in all sectors of the economy, except for the industrial sector. According to data of the National Statistical Committee, in January 2022, the volume of gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to KGS 37.5 billion and the real growth rate amounted to 101.0% (in January 2021 it was 92.2%), excluding enterprises for the development of the Kumtor deposit, the growth rate was 101.1% (in January 2020 - 96.1%). The GDP deflator was at the level of 107.7%.

In the sectors of the economy, the indicators were as follows: in agriculture, production volumes increased by 2.4%, in construction - by 1.6%, and in the service sector - by 4.0%, and in industry the growth rate decreased by 4.5%. %. Due to emerging trends in the economy, in the structure of nominal GDP, the share of industries producing goods amounted to 36.1%, and the share of industries providing services amounted to 50.3%, the ministry’s report says.

Problems with the industrial sector are associated with a reduction in the production of chemical products, rubber and plastic products, various non-metallic mineral products, food products and tobacco products.

At the same time, according to the Ministry of Economy, there was an increase in the production of petroleum products (by 46.6%), pharmaceutical products (by 31.7%), wood and paper products, printing activities (by 20.1%), textile production, production of clothing and footwear, leather and leather products (by 5.4%), basic metals and finished metal products, except for machinery and equipment (by 2.9%).

The volume of electricity, gas and steam supply decreased by 16.6% compared to January last year due to a decrease in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity by 18.3%, as well as the provision (supply) of steam - by 16.3%.

Without enterprises developing the Kumtor mine, the volume of industrial production decreased by 7.0%.

The growth in gross agricultural output compared to January 2021 is mainly due to an increase in livestock production. The increase in investments in fixed assets compared to January 2021 was provided by internal sources of financing (by 0.2%), while external sources of financing, on the contrary, decreased by one percent. In January of this year, the main volume of investments (about 88 percent of their total volume) was directed to the construction of mining facilities, provision (supply) of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, transport activities and storage of goods, as well as housing construction, the report said.

For the first month of this year, the gross output of industries that are engaged in the provision of services amounted to KGS 18.9 billion, the real growth rate increased by 4%. The largest share in the structure of sectors of the economy that provide services is wholesale and retail trade - 33.7%, transport services - 10.0%.

The Ministry noted that the impact of the service sector on economic growth was positive and the contribution to the formation of GDP amounted to 1.94 percentage points, the share in the structure of GDP production was 50.3%.

The main influencing factor in the growth of the service sector is the revitalization of economic activity, the growth of the economy in neighboring countries - the main trading partners and the vaccination of the population, which led to the lifting of restrictions in many areas of the service sector.

In January of this year, compared to December last year, the increase in consumer prices and tariffs in the country amounted to 1.0%. At the same time, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 3.6%, food products and non-alcoholic beverages - by 0.9%, tariffs for services provided to the population - by 0.5%, prices for non-food products - 0.4%. %. In January of this year, the prices increased for fish (by 5.8%), fresh vegetables (by 4.7%), dairy products, cheese and eggs (by 3.0%), potatoes (by 1.5%). ) and flour (by 1.2%). Along with this, a decrease in prices for animal fats (by 3.4%) and fresh meat (by 0.9%) was recorded, the Ministry of Economy said in a statement.

It is also noted that the average monthly salary increased by 9.6%. Growth is observed in enterprises and organizations of all types of economic activity.

The volume of mutual trade of the Kyrgyz Republic with the EAEU member states in January-December 2021 amounted to USD 3.4 billion and increased by 40.5% compared to January-December 2020. At the same time, export deliveries to the EAEU countries increased by 44.9%. The largest share of the republic's mutual trade with the EAEU member states in 2021 fell on Russia (66.7%) and Kazakhstan (30.9%).
