Kyrgyzstan’s economic week was filled with events such as submission for discussion of the issue of paying remuneration for reports of corruption, the start of plum export to Belgium, the UN’s acquisition of wheat in Kyrgyzstan, the growth of the Kyrgyz gold and foreign exchange reserve, data on agricultural production growth last year.
Anti-corruption step: This week, the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic submitted for public discussion a draft resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on approving the procedure for paying cash remuneration to a person reporting corruption violations”.
According to the document, this draft resolution was prepared with a view to establishing a unified procedure for paying remuneration to persons reporting corruption offenses and for application by law enforcement and supervisory bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic, carrying out investigative and operational investigative measures for corruption offenses.
The draft procedure for the payment of cash remuneration provides for the payment of cash compensation in case of all the necessary facts of corruption (documents) are available.
Export to Belgium. This week it was declared that 12 tons of dried prunes were exported 2019 from Kyrgyzstan to Belgium in and 8 tons to Mongolia.
Export growth was made possible through the combined efforts of gardeners. In order to achieve even greater export results, a meeting of cooperatives on farm enlargement was held in Ala-Buki district, in which 14 agricultural cooperatives took part.
As a result, it was decided that 10 cooperatives would become regional, and the rest decided to become members.
Last year, the country's cooperatives delivered dried fruits to the cities of Osh and Bishkek, sewed uniforms for employees of large mining companies and provided them with fruits and vegetables.
UN procurement. The United Nations World Food Program in Kyrgyzstan for the first time bought wheat from small farmers as part of an initiative to stimulate agriculture by connecting poor farmers to markets.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the support of the UN Peacebuilding Fund and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As part of the pilot Empowering Local Small Farmers project, the WFP supported over 100 low-income farmers in Osh Oblast by purchasing wheat crops at a competitive market price, which enabled them to invest in profits to increase production and increase food security.
Increased reserve. The volume of international reserves of Kyrgyzstan, as of Dec. 31, 2019, amounted to USD 2 billion 424.1 million, having increased from the beginning of 2019 by USD 268.6 million or by 12.5%.
The structure of international reserves includes assets in gold, special drawing rights and a portfolio of foreign currencies. The foreign exchange portfolio of assets includes US dollars, euros, Swiss francs, British pounds, Australian and Canadian dollars, Japanese yen, Russian rubles, Chinese yuan, Singapore dollars, Korean won, and Norwegian kroner.
Product growth. This week it was announced that in 2019 Kyrgyzstan produced gross output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries at current prices in the amount of KGS 220 billion. At the same time, the growth rate to the level of 2018 amounted to 102.6%.
The share of agriculture in the structure of the country's gross domestic product amounted to 12.1%. In the total volume of agricultural production, the share of livestock production amounted to 47.3%, crop production - 50.1%.
Growth of crop production made 102.6%.
For the year, the gross grain harvest in weight after refinement compared to 2018 increased by 2.3% and amounted to 1781.4 thousand tons.
The gross harvest of barley amounted to 465.9 thousand tons and increased by 8.5% compared with the level of 2018, which is associated with an increase in the sown area under barley by 7.6% (206.4 thousand ha), as well as yield by 0.3 kg / ha from 22.4 kg / ha to 22.7 kg / ha.
The growth of consciousness? This week, evidence is presented that the financial literacy of Kyrgyz people has been improved.
Chairman of the RSK Bank Management Board Azizbek Omorkulov said that fewer people in the republic have begun to take loans for holding festive events.
“There used to be times when a person came and received loans for carrying out wedding or other parties. Now, there are practically no such cases. A person comes and takes a loan mainly for business, for development. There were cases when a person bought a car for credit and then accidentally crashed it, falling into force majeure. Now there are also few such cases,” said Omorkulov.
The chairman assured that the population began to correctly calculate the funds, predetermining all the risks.
Livestock. In 2019, livestock production in the amount of KGS 103.9 billion was produced in Kyrgyzstan, and the growth rate was 102.5%.
For the reporting period of 2019, business entities of all categories produced 413.5 thousand tons of meat in live weight, which is 2.5% more than last year (in 2018 - 2.1%).
The increase in meat production in the republic is due to an increase in the number of livestock and poultry. The number of cattle increased by 51 thousand 862 animals compared to the previous year, sheep and goats - by 90 thousand 174 animals, horses - by 17 thousand 355 animals and poultry increased by 99 thousand 279 animals.
Aiport’s indicators. This week, it became known that Manas International Airport OJSC served 3 million 683 thousand 347 passengers in 2019.
Of these, passenger traffic on domestic airlines amounted to 1 million 205 thousand 400 people, on international - 2 million 477 thousand 947 people.
In 2019, 30 thousand 834 flights were served. Of these, 20 thousand 551 flights were served in international directions, and 10 thousand 283 flights in domestic directions.
In particular, the Bishkek branch of MAM OJSC served 19 thousand 511 flights: domestic - 5 thousand 113, international - 14 thousand 398.
Passenger traffic amounted to 2 million 167 thousand 759 people. Of these, 617 552 people were served on domestic airlines, and 1 million 550 thousand 207 people were served on international airlines.
Work at the Jerui. This week, it was announced that 35 thousand tons of pulp ore with an average gold grade of 1.85 grams per ton were mined and stored at the Jeruyideposit in Talas Oblast for the period November 2019 - January 2020.
According to Alliance Altyn LLC, in the meantime, construction and installation work is being completed at the mine, and the commissioning process is underway.
