Bishkek, Nov.19, 2019. /Kabar/. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) forecasts 3.4% growth of Kyrgyzstan’s economy in 2020-2021, the press service of the Bank reported.
The data were prepared by the EDB Directorate for Analytical Work.
According to EDB's Director for Analytical Work Andrey Falileyev, the growth rate of Kyrgyzstan's GDP in 2019 will accelerate to 4.0% due to the recovery of gold production and increased exports.
Compared to the previous forecast (April 2019), the assessment did not change. EDB analysts expect the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic to grow by an average of 3.4% annually in 2020-2021.
EDB analysts note the trend of slowing inflation ceased in Q2 2019 amid rising world prices for grain and meat products, as well as limited supply of vegetables in the domestic market.
The main source of risk for the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the review is the probability of deterioration of external conditions, first of all, against the background of the slowdown in global economic growth and trade.
Such development of events will affect the economic growth in the Kyrgyz Republic mainly through the channels of foreign trade and remittances. Among the internal factors that can affect the dynamics of the economy, EDB analysts note the potential for increasing the investment attractiveness of the country and improving labor productivity.
