Bishkek, Feb. 5, 2024. /Kabar/. The analytical group of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) presented a weekly macro-review of the main economic indicators in partner countries.
It said that in general the situation remains stable with positive trends observed in a number of key positions.
As for Kyrgyzstan, the EDB noted: “Annual inflation has been steadily declining, mainly due to a slowdown in price growth in the food basket. In the non-food segment and the services sector, more inertial dynamics were noted.”
At the same time it said that maintaining the discount rate at 13.0% by the National Bank is due to a balanced approach to monetary policy. “The decision taken is aimed at stimulating the savings behavior of the population and stabilizing inflation expectations. We believe that the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic can maintain the discount rate at 13.0% during the first half of 2024,” the review says.
