Bishkek, June 4, 2024. /Kabar/. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov, as part of a working trip to the city of Geneva (Swiss Confederation) on the sidelines of the 112th session of the International Labor Conference (ILO), met with Director General of the organization, Gilbert Houngbo.

The deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers informed the ILO leadership about the significant socio-economic progress achieved in Kyrgyzstan in the post-Covid period, especially noting the increased economic growth rates, increased demand for labor and rising wages.

“Kyrgyzstan today was able to reduce the number of its external labor migrants by almost 300 thousand people. Not only have we created jobs for them within the country today, but Kyrgyzstan is now becoming an attractive destination for international labor migrants,” said Edil Baisalov.

He also noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic pays special attention to protecting the rights of immigrants and ensuring proper working conditions, in particular against the backdrop of the fact that the country is becoming an increasingly popular destination for labor migration from South Asia.

For his part, the ILO director general welcomed the readiness of the Kyrgyz government for an open dialogue and assured of its commitment to further cooperation with the Kyrgyz side in raising the standards of working conditions in the country, including taking into account socio-economic and gender aspects.
