EIGC meeting held in Nur-Sultan under chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Feb. 25, 2022 . / Kabar /. This year’s the first meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in a narrow format took place in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) under the chairmanship of Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov.

Opening the meeting, Zhaparov thanked Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov for the high level of organization of the meeting and congratulated him on his appointment to a high and responsible position, the press service of the Kyrgyz Cabinet said Thursday.

"President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Sadyr Zhaparov in his address to heads of member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) outlined the priority areas and initiatives for the current year of Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship in EAEU bodies. Above all, he outlined the goals set in the Strategic Framework for the Economic Integration until 2025, the development and introduction of effective measures and mechanisms to remove barriers, strengthen industrial cooperation, address food security issues in the member states of the integration association and develop a coordinated response to the challenges of climate change. I call for closer cooperation in solving these areas, which require thorough elaboration and implementation, both by the member states and the Eurasian Economic Commission," Akylbek Zhaparov said.

The head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet noted that on May 26-27 Bishkek will host the Eurasian Economic Forum. The event will be held within the framework of the regular meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council with the participation of top officials of member states.

Currently, the Eurasian Economic Union consists of five countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

This year, Kyrgyzstan chares the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, and the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
