Embassy of Japan pays official visit to Batken Oblast

Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2023. / Kabar /. Governor of Batken Oblast Zhanybek Isakov met with Ambassador of Japan to the Kyrgyz Republic Hideki Goda.

Zhanybek Isakov emphasized the importance of the official visit of the Japanese Embassy to Batken and said that over the past 30 years, diplomatic relations between the two countries have developed and mutual cooperation has strengthened.

At the meeting, a number of proposals were made on the development of the socio-economic sphere of the region, and the Japanese Embassy expressed interest in bilateral cooperation.

In addition, a solemn event was held at Batken State University with the participation of Deputy Governor Zhanybek Isakov, Japanese Ambassador Hideki Goda and Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Migration Kudaibergen Bazarbaev, Deputy Minister of Education Almaz Mambetov, as well as UN representatives.

Further, as part of the event, a workshop for the production of oil from apricot kernels of the Alysh-Dan cooperative was opened. The guests got acquainted with organic apricot products and the activities of the cooperative. In addition, the guests met with residents of border villages and provided them with the necessary assistance.

It should be noted that after the border conflict in Batken in 2022, the Japanese government decided to provide emergency gratuitous assistance in the amount of USD 1 million to residents of the Batken region. This assistance is provided through the United Nations World Food Program and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
