Bishkek, Feb. 22, 2023 / Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received Minister of Emergency Situations Boobek Azhikeev.
The head of state was informed about the search and rescue work carried out by the rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan in Turkiye.
Boobek Azhikeev said that in pursuance of the President's order, a special group of 120 people was immediately sent to Turkiye to provide assistance to those affected by the devastating earthquake. It included rescuers, doctors, cynologists, psychologists.
This is the first time in the history of the Ministry of Emergency Situations that Kyrgyz rescuers traveled outside the country for a rescue mission. In the last two years, active work has been carried out to improve the training of rescuers and the activities of the cynological service.
The minister stressed that the rescue team from Kyrgyzstan did a great job - risking their lives, the rescuers were able to save 8 people under the rubble, including children, and pull the bodies of 198 dead from under the rubble. In addition, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Turkiye, compatriots living and studying there provided great assistance and support on the ground.
Sadyr Zhaparov expressed gratitude to the rescuers for the work done to eliminate the consequences of the devastating earthquake in Turkey, calling their actions professional, well-coordinated and effective.
The president noted that the natural disaster that occurred in Turkiye had devastating consequences, causing great damage to the fraternal state. This is a common grief that rallied everyone in the desire to help the people of Turkiye.
The head of state instructed the minister to make proposals for awarding distinguished rescuers in search and rescue operations. He emphasized that this will be an incentive for others, they will strive to work even better and grow in their business.
In addition, Sadyr Zhaparov focused on the need for the Ministry of Emergency Situations to strengthen the work on the prevention of natural disasters typical of the spring-summer flood period.
The head of state stressed the need to take prompt measures aimed at the maximum possible prevention of emergency situations.
