Bishkek, Dec. 6, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Boobek Azhikeev met in London with Director of the Board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Head of the Turkish Regional Office Yasemin Girici.
During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EBRD were discussed, as well as the possibilities of joint work to reduce the risks of natural disasters and adapt to climate change.
The meeting presented the key areas of activity of the EBRD regional office in Istanbul, which promotes sustainable economic development and improves living standards in the region, and also provides advice and assistance in the field of infrastructure and financial systems development.
Azhikeev expressed interest in continuing cooperation with the EBRD, including strengthening emergency preparedness and response systems, modernizing infrastructure, and addressing climate change and natural disasters. The possibilities of using Turkish experience in disaster recovery and developing sustainable cities were discussed.
In turn, Yasemin Girici confirmed the EBRD's readiness to support Kyrgyzstan in implementing these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening cooperation and working together to address common challenges.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to develop cooperation in implementing initiatives aimed at increasing Kyrgyzstan's resilience to natural disasters.
