Employees of Kyrgyzstan's industrial enterprises trained on energy management system introduction

Bishkek, Feb. 4, 2022. / Kabar /. On Feb. 3-4, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan hosted a training course on energy management system introduction, which is supported by UNIDO as part of the Global Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) initiative in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The press service of the Ministry of Economy said that the training was attended by heads of cement and metallurgical enterprises, managers of energy, maintenance, technical safety, environmental and quality issues, enterprise engineers, heads of public utilities, auditors of control systems and technical consultants who have a basic understanding of energy management systems, the ministry officials, academia.

Welcoming the participants, head of the Industry Department of the Ministry Shamil Boronchiev stressed the importance of the event as part of the government's efforts to develop industry and energy, the creation of the Industry KG state corporation, and the coordination of activities in the field of energy efficiency in the metallurgical and cement industries.

The keynote speaker was Alfred Harzenburg (South Africa), an international UNIDO consultant with extensive experience in the implementation of energy management systems, energy efficiency, optimization of ventilation systems, compressed air and electric motors. He is a member of the South African Association for Energy Efficiency and has been awarded for his contribution to the implementation of energy efficiency in South Africa.

The purpose of the two-day training, designed for employees of industrial enterprises, whose actions affect energy consumption in an enterprise, and those responsible for the development and implementation of an energy management system in a company, is to provide knowledge, understanding and tools that will allow initiating the development and management of energy system conforming to the ISO 50001 standard.

Companies implementing this energy management system are known to have achieved energy savings in the range of 5 to 12% year-on-year compared to 1-3% for conventional companies.

During the training, the andragogical method will be used to achieve maximum efficiency of the educational process. The course contains interactive group and individual exercises to develop a practical understanding of the introduction of energy management system.
