Energy ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Korea discuss entire range of bilateral relations

Bishkek, May 11, 2024. /Kabar/. During his visit to Seoul, Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Ibraev met with Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea Ahn Duk-geun, the press service of the ministry reported.

During the bilateral meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in such areas as renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, new technologies, bilateral exchange of experience and a memorandum of understanding between Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Korea.

Ibraev noted that Kyrgyzstan is the leading water resource in Central Asia, supplying more than 80% of electricity and has significant potential in other renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy.

Also, in order to deepen cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy and the implementation of the issues discussed, it was proposed to sign relevant documents. In addition, he invited Ahn Duk-geun to the International Energy Forum, which will be held on June 10-11, 2024 in Vienna.

Both countries also intend to work together to promote energy saving policies in response to the climate crisis and strengthen energy security, as well as exchange experience and the latest technologies.

Ahn Duk-geun expressed interest in cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and asked Ibraev to participate and actively support the World Expo, which will be held in Busan from September 4 to 6 this year.
