Bishkek, May 20, 2022. / Kabar /. Deputy Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan Adyl uulu Kuban met with Chief of the Operational Activities & Review Section of the Environment Division, of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Nicholas Bonvoisen, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office said.
It was noted that this meeting was held within the framework of the implementation of the third UNECE Environmental Performance Review of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of mutual cooperation in the field of environmental protection, including the rational use of natural resources, ensuring the environmental safety of the state, access to information and public participation in decision-making on environmental issues, the report said.
The deputy prosecutor general noted the special importance and priority of environmental protection issues and increasing the efficiency of public prosecutor's supervision in environmental activities.
The sides emphasized the importance of the ongoing environmental policy of the state and expressed their intention to further cooperation on issues of mutual interest, the report said.
An Environmental Performance Review (EPR) is an assessment of the progress a government has made in harmonizing environmental and economic objectives and meeting international environmental obligations.
